Meet the Judges
 
Mauricio Fernandez

Mauricio Fernandez is originally from Mexico where he received his training at Estudio de Danza Antoinette de Puebla. To further his dance education he attended the Boston Ballet School, Orlando Ballet, Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet in New York City, Idyllwild Arts Academy and Milwaukee Ballet. He has performed with several ballet companies including Compania de Danza Antoinette in Mexico, InlandPacific Ballet, Orlando Ballet, Western Chicago Ballet, Hinsdale Ballet Theatre, Springfield Ballet, DanceWest Ballet, Albany Berkshire Ballet, Kentucky Ballet Theatre, Chicago Repertory Ballet and most recently Teater Vanemuine Ballet in Estonia. Mauricio is a Tap Gold medalist at Confederacion Inter-Americana de Profesionales de la Danza (CIAD), Intrancefest Tec de Monterrey. In 2018 Mauricio relocated to the Chicago area and decided to further his tap dance studies with Chicago Human Rythm Project and Tristan Bruns, founder and artistic director of the Tapman Productions. He has taken part of CHRP’s Rythm World Festival and MADD Rythm’s Chicago Tap Summit and had the privilege to study with tap dance masters such as Dianne “Lady Di” Walker, Sam Weber, Brill Barret, Daniel Borak, Star Dixon, Nico Rubio, Martin Dumas, Jason Janas, Charles Renato, & Ted Louis Levy. Mauricio most recently danced with Chicago Repertory Ballet, the CHRP’s Stone Soup Rhythms Tap Company and Teater Vanemuine Ballet in Estonia.

 
Aaron Nedrick

Aaron attended the North East School of the Arts at the age of 13 and was trained in ballet, tap, jazz and modern and performed in musicals such as “Cats” and “Beauty and the Beast”. He later attended Oklahoma City University for two years with a focus in Dance Performance and then went to perform in the musicals “42nd Street” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” at Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma. Aaron then performed for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines for 3 years as a featured dancer, aerialist and singer in many different shows and musicals on board their ships. He most recently was cast the supporting role of Dante in the feature Netflix film Honey: Rise Up and Dance alongside Tiana Taylor and Sierra McClain working with choreographer Jamaica Craft. And has played the recurring role of Jeff in the tv drama Claws on TNT.

 
Lauren Taft

From age 4 until high school graduation, Lauren trained in dance at The Movement Center, a competition dance studio in Columbus Ohio. After high school, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a professional career in dance. After attending a scholarship program at Millennium Dance Complex and completing a work study program at Edge Performing Arts Center she was signed with Go 2 Talent Agency. She has since then danced for The World Expo in Shanghai and traveled the world dancing with Holland America Cruise lines. Lauren has worked for successful artists such as; Beyonce, Cher Loyd, Madonna, Nike and Walk The Moon. Lauren has performed in many local burlesque and cabaret shows in Los Angeles, as well as the world famous Forty Deuce burlesque show. To accompany her prolific career in dance, she has been adjudicating and choreographing internationally for over 8 years. Lauren has just returned from Australia, where she spent 8 months performing with Velvet Rope Entertainment Company, as well as teaching at world renowned Mad Dance House and other studios in Brisbane. She currently lives in Chicago, teaching at professional studio The PuzzleBox.
